双语硕硕说 | 谷雨，远远不仅只是一个节气

4月20日是谷雨节气。刻在骨子里的“春雨惊春清谷天”告诉我们，谷雨时节，雨生百谷，天气转温，降水显增。

毋庸置疑，凡有华人处皆知今日谷雨，然而很多人并不了解，今天也是“联合国中文日”。并且，“联合国中文日”的由来，正与“谷雨”息息相关。

2010年，联合国新闻部（现全球传播部）宣布启动联合国语言日。这一倡议旨在庆贺多种语文的使用和文化多样性，并促进六种官方语言在联合国的平等使用。其中，新闻部将中文日定在农历二十四节气之“谷雨”，以纪念“中华文字始祖”仓颉造字的贡献。

Language Days at the United Nations seek to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization. Under the initiative, UN duty stations around the world celebrate six separate days, each dedicated to one of the Organization's six official languages.

在进行更深入的学习之前，硕硕先帮大家补充三个知识点：

①1945年联合国成立时，中文就被确定为正式语言；

②联合国有六种工作语言，分别为：汉语、阿拉伯语、俄语、英语、法语和西班牙语（硕硕速记口诀：中英法俄西阿），其中中文是全世界使用人数最多的语言，也是唯一一个由单一国家使用的官方语言；

③2009年，联合国教科文组织将有着3000多年历史的中国书法列入《非物质文化遗产代表作名录》。

联合国语言日的倡议旨在庆贺多种语文的使用和文化多样性，并促进六种官方语言在联合国所有的平等使用。

Language Days at the United Nations seek to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization.

根据这一倡议，世界各地的联合国工作点会在六个不同的日子分别举办庆祝活动，每个日子庆祝联合国六种官方语言中的一种。

Under the initiative, UN duty stations around the world celebrate six separate days, each dedicated to one of the Organization's six official languages.

六种官方语言对应的语言日分别为：

3月20日 法文日（French Language Day，法语组织成立纪念日）

4月20日 中文日（Chinese Language Day，仓颉纪念日）

4月23日 英文日（English Language Day，莎士比亚诞辰与逝世日）

4月23日 西班牙文日（Spanish Language Day，塞万提斯逝世日）

6月6日 俄文日（Russian Language Day，普希金诞辰日）

12月18日 阿拉伯文日（Arabic Language Day，联大于1973年12月18日决定将阿拉伯文定为正式语文）

UN Chinese Language Day

联合国中文日定在东亚农历二十四节气的第六个节气——谷雨，以纪念仓颉。仓颉是中国古代一个非常重要的人物，据说是黄帝的御用史学家和汉字的创造者。

The date for the Chinese day was selected from Guyu ("Rain of Millet"), which is the 6th of 24 solar terms in the traditional East Asian calendars, to pay tribute to Cangjie. Cangjie is a very important figure in ancient China, claimed to be an official historian of the Yellow Emperor and the inventor of Chinese characters.

传说仓颉四眼四瞳，在他造字时，神鬼同泣，天下谷雨。自那时起，中国人就庆祝谷雨日以纪念仓颉。在公历中，这一天通常在4月20日左右。

Legend has it that he had four eyes and four pupils, and that when he invented the characters, the deities and ghosts cried and the sky rained millet. From then on, Chinese people celebrate the day Guyu in honour of Cangjie. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around April 20.

中文在联合国的使用状况

中文于1946年被确定为联合国的官方语言。然而，早年间中文在联合国的工作中并不常用。

Chinese was established as an official language of the United Nations in 1946. However, in early years, Chinese was not commonly used in the work of the United Nations.

1971年中华人民共和国恢复在联合国的合法权利后，情况才有所改善。1973年，联合国大会将中文列为工作语言之一；1974年，联合国安理会也随之将中文列为工作语言之一。越来越多的联合国机构和员工用中文开展工作。

The situation was improved after restoration of the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations in 1971. In 1973, the General Assembly included Chinese as a working language, which was followed by the Security Council in 1974. More and more UN offices and staff members work with Chinese language.

中文是全世界使用人数最多的语言，在联合国的六种正式语文中，中文是唯一一个由单一国家使用的官方语言。

Chinese is the most spoken language in the world, and among the six official languages of the United Nations, it is the only official language used by a single country.

为庆祝2021联合国中文日，联合国工作人员举行了一系列活动“聚焦象形文字”。
