Int’l students experience Chinese New Year in Linyi

Twenty-five international students from Linyi University visited Yizhouli to experience diversified traditional Chinese culture of the upcoming Chunjie (the Chinese New Year namely Spring Festival) in Linyi City, east China’s Shandong Province on January 13.

Writing spring couplets, making paper cuttings, dough figurines and dumplings, all the students enjoyed the local traditions for Spring Festival at Yizhouli, an iconic site in Linyi famous for its compelling combination of ancient buildings and modern amusement.

“Rabbit is the zoadic sign of the coming year in China, here is my paper cutting of rabbit, I like it very much,” said Saida from Morocco.

“I like Chinese calligraphy, so I choose to experience the writing,” guided by the calligraphy teacher, Abia Cpaver from Coted’Ivoire finished the couplets by himself.

Noha, a freshman of Linyi University from Morocco, was impressed by the cultural activities of Spring Festival. “This is the first time I experience Chinese New Year, and I’m expecting for experiencing and understanding more about Chinese traditional culture in the coming year,” said Noha.

The experience activities were held by Linyi Daily, the leading news institution in Linyi City consisting of newspapers, news apps and news websites. In recent years, the institution is working to promote international communication based on inter-cultural exchanges. Foreign friends who living, working or studying in Linyi are welcomed to take part in the experience of cultural exchanges sponsored by the news institution.
