Hungary celebrates Chinese New Year in traditional way

Dressed in traditional Chinese costumes and carrying Chinese handiwork, people celebrate Chinese New Year in the traditional way in Budapest, Hunagry on January 20, 2023. The celebrations attracted hundreds of local people.

With the drums, dragons and lions, festivities took place around Budapest. The Chinese New Year celebrations date back thousands of years and are a chance for family and friends to get together to enjoy traditional food, music and dance. And as Hungarian Chinese community has grown, so has the number of Hungarian cities that host such events, with locals also becoming more involved.

Celebrations for Chinese New Year bring happiness and prosperity to people, letting go of the past and welcoming the Year of the Rabbit. All generations are encouraged to participate at the festivities.
