Qushuiting Street, a pedestrian alleyway lined by traditional courtyards with a spring-fed waterway running through the center, is located in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province.
Willows, locust trees, old residential houses, shops for handicrafts, folk arts and running spring water along the waterway bring pleasure and wealth to the sites. A famous Chinese novel named The Travel Journal of Lao Can described sites around the Qushuiting Street as "springs bubble in every yard, and weeping willows surround every household".
Aiming at reviving the ancient buildings around Qushuiting Street dating back to Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), a comprehensive restoration initiative has been undertaken since March, 2012.
The street stands as a beacon for the preservation of ancient architecturein Jinan, setting a commendable example in safeguarding historical buildings.
Today, the Qushuiting street not only boasts a treasure trove of old buildings but also becomes a landmark of old districts in Jinan.
