Int’l students get close to ICH in Tancheng, Linyi

Eight international students from Linyi University embarked on an immersive journey of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Gangshang Town and Matou Town in Tancheng County, Linyi, east China’s Shandong Province on August 23.

At the base of Muxuan wooden toys in Gangshang, foreign students visited the workshop of wooden toys Yanche and Muxuan, learned the cultural background and developing industry of the wooden toys, experienced the crafts of making Muxuan.

In Matou the international students learned history and culture of Guamenjian, a kind of decoration stuck on gates and doors to welcome Chinese New Year.

The Guamenjian is especially popular in Tancheng and Linyi. Thedecoration is basically painted by five colours and made by carving.

In addition, the foreign students experienced the traditional melody of Lunan Five Major at the Exhibition Hall of Matou Intangible Cultural Heritage.
